China offers citizenship (N.Z.P.A -Reuter—Copyright) HONG KONG. The Chinese Government would give citizenship rights to 293 Nationalist prisoners recently released by special amnesty, the. New China News Agency reported. General Yeh Chien-Ying, the Defence Minister, announced this when he received the Nationalists in Peking, the agency said. General Yeh was quoted as saying: “Those who have the ability to work will be given suitable jobs, those who are 11 will enjoy free medical ;are. those who have lost the ability to work will be provided for by the State, those who wish to return to Taiwan will be provided with adequate fares and those who wish o come back after going here will be welcomed by he Government.”
The Nationalists, most of hem followers of President Ihiang Kai-shek of Taiwan, vere released on March 19 fter almost 25 years in prison. i
