Canework guide

A new booklet “Canework Basketmaking” incorporates two booklets “Canework” and “Basketmaking Made Easy” which have been out of print for some time. The booklet is written for New Zealand conditions and includes basic canework techniques for beginners to more complex items such as chairs and Ali Baba baskets.

Chapters on learning about cane, the basic principles and steps introduce the reader to the hobby. The following chapters include instructions on special aspects of canework, such as doing handles, borders and staining and dyeing the cane. The instructions for making the wide variety of baskets, trays and chairs are excellently illustrated with black and white photographs and drawings. The soft-cover book is published by Wilson and Horton, Ltd. and costs $l.
