The match was played at a ! fast pace throughout, with an even first half marked by ; solid tackling from both teams. At the end of the first half Christchurch led 4-2, with two penalties kicked bv ;M. O'Donnell in the seventh and twenty-third minutes Wellington’s points came [from a penalty by its captain. R. Roberts. The initiative in the second half shifted to Wellington After 15 minutes J. Arnold • scored a try for Wellington and Roberts converted to give i a 7-4 lead.
