Many small rises in Australia
Share prices were relatively firm on Australian exchanges on Thursday. The firmer tone came after stronger showings in London and Wall Street. Movements, however, were narrow on low volume.
B.H.P. rose 8c to 612 c. Others to improve included Dunlop, I.A.C. and the 8.N.5.W., which gained 10c at 580 c.
Mining stocks traded firmer, but most at close were only narrowly higher. Peko-Wallsend gained 5c to 310 c while Utah recovered 4c to 664 c. C.R.A. rose 5c to 195 c and Cons Gold the same amount to 295 c. Smaller improvements were posted by Mount Lyell and North Broken Hill.
In a firm gold section, Central Norseman gained | 10c to 240 c but Emperor and G.M.K. both closed unchanged. Uraniums issues attracted , little interest.
