Ngatoro laid up

The crew of the Union Steam Ship Company’s intercontinental trader Ngatoro was paid off at Lyttelton on Thursday afternoon. After discharge of newsprint from Tauranga, every effort was made to secure a cargo for the Ngatoro, and the Blue Peter flew for two days — but according to the Christchurch manager of the Union Company (Mr A. J. Smith) no cargo could be found and the crew was accordingly paid off. The Ngatoro is now laid up at Lyttelton indefinitely.
