Plywood fire

Fire broke out in a heap of plywood offcuts at the Plywood division of Fletcher Timber Company, Ltd, Mandeville Street, Riccarton. yesterday afternoon. A boilerman. Mr N. Riley, gave the alarm at 2.12 p.m. Workmen at the site attempted to fight the fire with j the company’s own hose reels 'and fire extinguishers, but to ino avail. The damage was confined To a wall and part of the I waste elevator, which leads into the boilerhouse.. Appliances from the Central Fire Station, Sockburn, and Spreydon attended the blaze.
