Regional soccer coaches

(NZ. Press Association)

WELLINGTON.

Two full-time regional soccer coaches are to be appointed by the New Zealand Football Association at Auckland and Christchurch with financial assistance from the Ministry of Recreation and Sport, Mr R. A. Kelly, chairman of the N.Z.F.A., has announced. Mr Wally Hughes, the present part-time Northern Regional League coach, will take up the Auckland position from April 1, 1975.

The position in Christchurch is for the whole of the South Island and will be advertised in New Zealand and overseas.

The regional coaches will be responsible to the National Director of Coaching (Mr Barrie Truman), who will remain sponsored by Rothmans.

Mr Kelly said the appointments were part of a longterm plan which envisaged a national director and six fulltime regional coaches. Until further appointments are made, Mr Truman will assume a special responsibility for the Central Regional League area.
