Chathams flights sought
i The North Canterbury ; Hospital Board has been urged to make further reprej.sentations to the Ministry of ! Transport over the cessation of direct flights between I Christchurch and the Chatham Islands. A board meeting yesterday was told that neither the ; board nor the resident medical officer on the Chathams had been consulted before the service was stopped. The institutions committee chairman (Mrs L. C. Gardiner) said that there had always been a strong traditional link between the Chathams and Christchurch. Most Chatham Islanders' handled their affairs through Christchurch, sent their children to school here, and wanted to use the city’s medical facilities instead of being forced to go to Wellington.
