N.Z.B.C. pay ruling

(N Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, Mar. 26. The numbers and percentages of people employed by the four new broadcasting corporations in higher graded positions should be scrutinised, according to the State Services Tribunal. The chairman (Mr N. R. Taylor, S.M.) said today that they should be looked at carefully in view of the general functions and purposes of the Wage Adjustment Regulations and the Higher Salaries Commission. His comments came in a tribunal decision which partly approved the transfer of existing salary scales and conditions of work from the N.Z.B.C. to the four new corporations. The tribunal approved the scales submitted up to a maximum figure of $15,488, effective from Tuesday. It declined jurisdiction on salaries above $15,488 and referred them to the Higher Salaries Commission. Salary scales for the four directors . general have already been approved by tne commission.
