Second N.Z. Games in 1977 mooted

A second New Zealand Games will be held in Christchurch in January. 1977—subject to an assurance of Government financial support.

A motion to this effect was passed unanimously at a meeting last evening of the organising committee for the first New Zealand Games, this year.

Representatives of the four sports — athletics, swimming, weightlifting and men’s basketball — which constituted this year’s programme all gave their wholehearted support for a second games and said they would be prepared to begin work immediately. The support subcommittees, too, all expressed a keen desire to be involved again. Very few changes in personnel are likely. Support Before the vote the chairman (Mr H. C.
