Scant interest in Aust. shares
Late support for B.H.P. and CSR shares highlighted a weak trading session on Australian exchanges yesterday.
After being down in the early session, B.H.P. shares ended the day 4c ahead at 630 c. CSR followed this pattern and closed 5c up at 415 c. Indicative of the overall lethargy in the market, turnover in both stocks was well below average. Banking issues were easier with B.N.S.W. shares posting their first loss in more than a week. The shares closed 12c down at 612 c. A.N.Z. shares fell. 8c to 572 c.
Property stocks, financiers, and retailers all moved lower. Falls among mining issues were less severe than in the industrial , section. Western Mining was 4c down at 176 c and B.H. South 5c at 215 c. A. and S„ C.R.A. and North 8.H., ail eased. Gold stocks held firm, but ura- [ niums issues with the ex- ' ception of Pancontinental,, I all lost ground.
