Tropical products

GENEVA, March 12.
Negotiators from some 70 countries yesterday agreed on procedures for talks on ways to expand Third World countries’ foreign earnings from exports of tropical products, delegation sources said.
At meetings under the auspices of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (G.A.T.T.), negotiators decided that developing countries would ask industrialised States for specific action to remove barriers to products ranging from cocoa, coffee and tea, to exotic fruits and spices, the sources said.
Major States will respond with offers of trade concessions. The United States, the nine-country European Economic Community and Japan — but not the Soviet Union and China —•• are participating.
