NOON FORECAST
Situation: A deep and active depression just west of Auckland Peninsula is moving southeast on to the North Island. A large, slow-moving anticyclone covers the South Tasman Sea. Forecast: Canterbury.—South or southeast winds, fresh in exposed places; cool, with rain, possibly heavy north of Banks Peninsula. Marlborough: Gales between east and south, perhaps of
some severity in Cook Strait; rain; cool. Nelson and Buller: Easterly or southerly winds, gales in some exposed parts; cloudy, with rain more persistent in Nelson than in Buller; rather mild. Westland: South-easterlies, fresh and gusty in some valleys; high cloud thickening; possibly some light rain in places; moderate temperatures. Outlook: Mainly fair in the west, unsettled elsewhere.
