The Industrial Court has left virtually intact a disputes committee agreement on extra payment for Waingawa freezing works transmen employed in minus temperatures. The dispute decision provides for payment of the award rate in temperatures between minus 1.1 deg and minus 14.3 deg Celcius, time and a quarter between temperatures of minus 14.4 deg and minus 20deg, time and a half between minus 20deg and minus 34deg, and double time for temperatures below minus 34deg. The court has added that in all except the first instance, payment must be for a minimum of one hour.
