Maypole dance

A feature of this year’s show will be a maypole dance, organised and choreographed by Mrs T. Tobin, of Cheviot, and performed by eight girls in specially designed costumes. Instructions for the original dance steps were unobtainable so Mrs Tobin has arranged the dance to a polka. The 10ft maypole will be decorated with eight different coloured ribbons which the young dancers will unweave as they dance around the maypole. Mrs Tobin has recently returned from Australia, where she worked in pantomimes and musical comedies.
