SHEEP SHEARING COMPETITION

Last year a sheep shearing competition was introduced to the show and was very successful. It is to be repeated this year and the standard is expected to remain high. Points in the open heats will go forward for the Philip Morris South Island Shearer of the Year Award.

The competition will be run in two classes, open and intermediate. The judges are Mr A. Reid (Rangiora), Mr F. J. Loffhagen (Waipara) and Mr G. Fleming (Amberley). The compere will be Mr I. Rutherford (Leeston). with points recorders Mr J. Williams (Lyttelton) with

Messrs G. Lemon and R, Taylor as timekeepers.
