Membership drive by National

<N.Z. Press Association} WELLINGTON. Feb. 26. I The National Party will I raise its membership target; for this year to 175,000. The party's president (Mr G. Chapman) said today he was confident that the new target could be reached. It would give the party a bigger membership than at any time during the last 10 years. The party’s present membership is about 150,000. Mr Chapman said people were flocking to join the National Party in what he called an “angry but quiet commentary on the incompetence" of the Labour Government.”
