Pineda’s family claims $25m

The widow and two children; of the Mexican-born jockey,] Alvaro Pineda, have filed a s2sm. negligence suit against the Santa, Anita race track, arising out! of the Jockey’s death in a; starting gate accident at the! track on January 18. The suit, filed in the Pasadena: Superior Court, alleged negligence by the track and its ■ owners, the Los Angeles Turf ■Club. Incorporated, and “defecitive and dangerous design of [the gate.” Mrs Donna Arman Pineda, aged 29, and her two children. [ Matthew three, and Charlene 18 'months, asked slom in general damages and *lsm in punitive i damages. Pineda, who was 29 and one ■ of the top jockeys in the United States died after his reared at the starting gate and he hit his head on an iron bar.
