Situation: Pressures are high south and east of New Zealand, and a frontal zone lying across Canterbury, Otago and Fiordland is moving slowly south. Forecast: Canterbury: Moderate northerlies; ram soon clearing in the south and temperatures becoming milder this afternoon, but some rain persisting about the Alps.'

Marlborough: Light or moderate northerlies; fair and warm apart from isolated afternoon showers. Nelson, Buller: Northerlies fresh in exposed places; cloudy and mild; scattered rain, especially in the west Westland: Moderate northerlies; cloudy and mild; occasional ram. Outlook: Mainly fair in Canterbury, showers in Marlborough, rain elsewhere.
