Air freight increases
Inward freight and mail carried in January by Air New Zealand and Qantas increased by 60 per cent, compared with January, 1974, while similar cargo outwards increased 34 per cent, compared with the same period, according to the journal of Christchurch International Airport, “Air News.” The airport authority will add 50,000 cu. ft of freezer space to its cool stores. Consumption of aviation fuel at the airport during January totalled 1,155,456 gallons, and there were 10,271 aircraft movements during the same period. The airport handled 4552 passengers en route to or i from the Antarctic, and (handled 840 tons of cargo.
