Subsidy for magazine
| Unless the Government approves a $20,000 subsidy to' the New Zealand National! Travel Association, its quarterly publication,'“New Zealand Holiday,” is in danger of being discontinued. At a meeting of the association’s executive this week, , its president (Mr I. Thomas) said that the Government’s appropriations included the !subsiay, and only the Minister’s final approval was needed. “We have commitIments, not the least of which iis the association’s quarterly promotional magazine ‘New Zealand Holiday’.” The Tourist and Publicity' Department buys 7500 copies of the magazine for worldwide distribution. The manager of the depart-, iment (Mr J, E. Hartstonge): said that an increase of 30! per cent in the number of visitors to New Zealand had; been recorded in recent; months.
