Pronounciation
Sir, — I recall that one of the pet hates of the late Professor Arnold Wall was the mis-pronunciation of the word pronunciation. He used to exhort his listeners to say “pronUNciation” not “pronOUNciation.” What a pity Mrs P. Mason’s letter on this subject has been sabotaged by the mis-spell-ing of this word as a heading. — Yours etc., T. H. BEESTON. January 23, 1975. (Our “slip” was intentional. —Editor.]
