Murdoch’s reward

The Southland driver, Jim Murdoch, has won a trip to Australia after his brilliant second placing in the New Zealand Grand Prix at Pukekohe last Sunday.

He will now race in the four Australian rounds of the Peter Stuyvesant series. Murdoch had not planned to take his New Zealandbuilt Begg 018 across the

Tasman because Australian promoters refused a prizemoney guarantee for the “unknown” driver.

But his sixth placing at Levin and his second at Pukekohe have made the 28-year-old New Zealander become one of the brighest prospects for the $112,000 series. Now the Australians are keen to have him.
