Situation: A slow-moving ridge of high pressure covers most of New Zealand, and a small depression north-east of Auckland is moving slowly west; a cold front over the south of the South Island is moving slowly east. Forecast: Canterbury: Moderate coastal north-easterlies but winds' light inland; coastal fog or/ low cloud at first this morning and scattered \ afternoon and evening!
thunderstorms inland, otherwise fine and warm. Marlborough, Nelson, Buller and Westland: Light to moderate variable winds and coastal sea breezes; fine and very warm, but thundery showers over the ranges this afternoon and evening, the showers more widespread in South Westland. Outlook; i Fine apart from scattered j afternoon and evening I showers.
