Situation: A ridge of high pressure extends across New Zealand from a slow-moving anticyclone south-east of the Chatham Islands; a lowpressure area north-east of the North Island is moving slowly south, and a frontal zone over the Tasman Sea is moving slowly south-east. Forecast: Canterbury, Kaikoura Coast: North-easterlies predomin-
ating, fresh at times along the coast, winds light inland; low cloud and drizzle clearing during the morning, otherwise fine and warm. Marlborough, Nelson. Buller, Westland: Coastal sea breezes, otherwise winds light; fine and warm apart from a few areas of low cloud and mist at first this morning. Outlook: Fair.
