‘Not end of inquiries’
(New Zealand Press Association)
WELLINGTON, January 10.
The Court of Appeal decision was unlikely to affect unduly the completion of inquiries relating to the Auckland abortion clinic, said the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Mr R. J. Walton) today.
“The judgment does not mean the end of police inquiries or the possibility of proceedings,” Mr Walton said in a statement
"Police legal advisers are closely examining the judg-
rnent and it is a little early to make any positive statement on the future course of the investigation. "The judgment allows for proceedings to be taken to retain some of the documents in furtherance of police inquiries and this course appears probable. “It is also likely that other documents will be returned. "The investigation has reached a stage where it is unlikely that the judgment would unduly affect the completion of inquiries, but future developments and action depend on legal advice and full consideration of all the factors involved.” Mr Walton gave no time when he expected inquiries to be completed.
