j Christchurch faces another I quiet period this week durI ing the second half of the Christmas-New Year holiday ;break. The Christchurch Transport Board will run a reduced bus service. New Year’s Day and January 2 will have Saturday timetables, and Friday will have a Monday-to-Thursday timetable. Banks, offices, and 'most shops will be closed on-“ New I Year’s Day and January 2, ! although many dairies will be open. The next late night in the city will be in the second week of January. However, shops at New Brighton will be open until 9 p.m. on Saturday. Bread will be baked for sale today. Friday and Sunday. Milk and cream deliveries will be made every day. I Post Offices will be closed: on New Year’s Day and. January 2. and will reopen; on January 3. No mail will
be delivered on January 7 1 and 2. Deliveries will be made on January 3 and 4. Legal offices will remain closed until January 13. A ! solicitor will be on duty at the Magistrate’s Court when court sittings are held.
