Distance should suit Royal Sign
("The Press’* Special Service) ' WELLINGTON. , Two hundred metres should • make a winning difference to Royal Sign when she contests the Summer Cup over 1600 m on the closing day of the i Manawatu summer meeting at AwapuYii today. Royal Sign raced over 1400 m on the first day of the meeting and finished strongly but a shade late. She took second money off Piacene and was only half a head behind the good mare, Marinoto.
Royal Sign apart, the progeny >of Pakistan II dominate the field. The best prospects maybe Tiptoe. Mr Dan. and Ayub Khan. Tiptoe steps up to the top grade after winning a class 3 handicap with 58kg at her last start. That was at 1360 m. but she should manage the 1600 m comfortably enough. Mr Dan ran a smart 1400 m in winning the sprint on Thursday. He is in good form and should be in the money again. 11.30 a.m.—December Plate— First division: Cute Lad, Glandovey.
