Car skids into children
IN.Z.P.A -Renter—-Copy right MACAJL An eight-year-old boy died and five other children were injured when a racing car ploughed into a crowd watching the Macao Grand Prix One of the injured children is in a critical condition in hospital. Their ages range from six to 10. The car. driven by th* West German, D. Glemset. skidded on the wet track and hit a tree. The vehicle, which had led from the start, then crashed through a bamboo fence into a group of young Chinese spectators. Glemser, who was not injured. was leading in the sixteenth of the 53 laps of the race for production can when he crashed. His Fort! Escort began its skid near the grandstand. He said later that the car’s steering systepi might have broken. A Filipino driver, R. Lan rel, was killed in a crash nearby in 1967. Four driver* have died in the annual race in recent years. N. Tachi, of Japan, drivinr a Toyota Celicia, won tty event.
