Govt loan to wool plant

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 18. The Government has approved a regional development suspensory loan of $400,000 for Greenfield Holdings, Ltd, to help in establishing a wool scouring and carpet yarn spinning plant at Kennington in Southland. Greenfield is a new company with a 60 per cent New Zealand holding; the balance of the shareholding is Australian.

The Minister of Trade and Industry (Mr Freer) said today that the Australian interest, Winston Carpet Pty, Ltd, was prepared to buy 68 per cent of the yarn output for sale in Australia. In the first year of production this would mean export sales of $4.6m.
