E.E.C. trade deficit

The Common Market was expected to have a 1974 trade deficit with the members of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (0.P.E.C.) of SNZI9,OOO to $NZ22,800 million, the European Commission said today. Giving these figures in reply to a question from a member of the European Parliament, the Commission said that oil imports from O.P.E.C. countries would amount to about $NZ30,400 million this year as against $NZ12,160 million in 1973.

Community exports to O.P.E.C. States were expected to increase to SNZ9I2O million in 1974 from SNZ6OBO million last year, the Commission said.
