Golf leader four ahead

MELBOURNE, The young Melbourne golfer, K. Shearer, clung to a four, stroke lead on a day of high winds and high scores in the s□o,ooB Chrysler tournament. Shearer, who had a record, equalling 65 in the first round could manage only a three over 74 yesterday, but his rivals farec no better. His nearest opponent at the halfway stage is a fellow Vie torian. I. Stanley, on 143 Stanley’s round of 72 was the equal best for the dav, as Hie overseas stars, L. Trevino (150) and H. Green ’148). slipped further out of contention. Of the New Zealand contin gent, T. Kendall and H. Kennedj are 15 strokes behind the leader. Kendall had a 76 and Kennedy a 79. R. J. Charles was again unable to master the course and had i 76 for a two-round total of 156 level with D. Clark. W. J. God frey scored an 81 to follow hi: 80 in the first round, and onh just managed to beat the third round cut-off.
