Gourmet barbecue
For those who consider barbecueing more than | throwing a few chops and sausages on a fire, burning them to a crisp and munch- '; ing on them sandwiched between! slabs of bread oozing tomato sauce, a booklet entitled' “Barbecue Cookery” offers a wide selection of recipes and I suggestions for making the barbecue a full scale outdoor; meal.
The booklet, published by I Reader’s Digest, contains the| methods of cooking every--I thing from sausages to suck- : ing pig with recipes for sauces, soups, vegetables,! desserts and drinks to ac-1 company them.
In the opening chapter, on cooking over an open fire,; the author reminds the, reader that the key to outdoor meals is simplicity.
However, many of the recipes in the booklet, although they can be prepared in I advance, are far from simple. What thev provide is I inspiration for the cook whoi really wants to turn on al lavish outdoor meal.
