TROTTING Speedy Guest picked to win at Oamaru

Speedy Guest and Gay Rose, both trained at Templeton by J. W. Smolenski. will be two of the best supported runners in the Hannon Memorial at Oamaru todav.

Speedy Guest has finished second in his three starts this season, first to Hi Foyle, then to Ko tare Legend, and finally to Robalan at Forbury Park on October 12. The class looks a little easier this time, and he should win.

His stablemate, Gay Rose, is worth respect, especially on the strength of her excellent win last start at Forbury Park. However, she has drawn wide, and begins from alongside Speedy Guest. Hardest for these to beat looks to be Eclipse, a stablemate of the pre-race; favourite, Robalan, which was 1 withdrawn after his unaccountable failure at last; Wednesday’s trials.

Robalan’s trainer, D D. Nyhan, said that the results received so far had been negative.

He said the horse had been restricted to light jogging since Wednesday and was quite well, but no risks would be taken with him.

Other prospects in the first leg of the T.A.B. double are Bomber Bill, Kawerau Gold, Lunar • Chance and Marie Gibbons. Tlie second leg of the double •is the Dan Cant Memorial, and ; among the favoured runners ! include Long Chance, Royal I Tango, Graeme Hanover, John Himself, Kingsdown Light and Confederate.

Royal Tango, Long Chance and Graeme Hanover were best of those behind True Fortune in tlie feature race on the first day of the meeting and they should take part in the finish again. The track will be firm.
