by the president of the Racing Conference <Mr A. Hughes) tnj Wellington yesterday it was revealed that the combined committee of the Racing Conference and the Trotting Conference had approached the X.Z.B.C. to have the full Saturday morning scratchings service restored. It was also stated that the move for extra racing dates is! well in hand. Formal submissions are being prepared and 1 should be ready soon to present i to the Minister of Interna], Affairs and the Cabinet. The Racing Authority and the Racing. ‘ onference have agreed on the «*xtra dates and the conference hopes that they will be in us** 1 before Christmas. The Greymouth Jockey Club.i which was to have raced on Feb ! ruary 11, has relinquished that date. The conference will call; for applications for this date from other South Island clubs i The Racing Conference execu-, tn e is »o register al] ownertrainers to bring them more in' line with the Rules of Racing. The use of brush and batten hurdles will, for the present? continue to be a domestic matter for clubs. So will the declaration of riders, although the executive is keen to have all clubs call for riders by 3 p.m. on Thursdays
