The level of appointment and the initial salary will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the appointee. It is hoped that the successful applicant will have interests related to the fields of research at present being pursued in the Department, in particular transport properties, structure, reaction kinetics and electrochemistry of the liquid and solid states including mineral systems, especially pressure and temperature effects. The appointee may be required to lecture in general spectroscopy at all levels though his research interests need not be specifically related to this subject. The salary scale for lecturers is in the range $7361 to $9339 p.a., and for senior lecturers $9503 to $11,153 p.a., where there is a bar, then from $11,484 to $12,142 p.a.
