Uniform dog tests sought

Town and country dogs should get the same dosing treatment for hydatids and sheep measles, in the opinion of the Akaroa County Council. The National Hydatids Council was asked at a meeting of the county council yesterday to put dog.s on the same testing basis. Cr A. J. Boleyn said that the policy of the Banks Penninsula Hydatids Control Committee was to dose all dogs every six weeks. This was done in Heathcote County, a member of the group, yet “across the road’ in Christchurch City, dogs were dosed once a year. “City dogs are brought tc the country and are allowec to run on farms,” Cr Boyle said. “This is not fair. We should press for a uniform national policy on dog-dos-ing.”
