MOTO-CROSS FINALS IN CHCH
Prize money amounting to $5OOO will be at stake in this season’s Pall Mall New Zealand moto-cross championships, which will again be held on a grade basis. The finals of the four championships — A, B, C and 125 c.c. — will be held in Christchurch on March 9. The A grade, won last season by the Tauranga
Suzuki rider, Peter Ploen, is restricted to experts. B grade is intended for experienced riders and C grade for all first year competitors. The 125 c.c. class is open but competitors in this cannot enter the graded classes as well. The first qualifying round for the championship will be for zone three riders at Wanganui on December 8. The zone four meeting is scheduled for Auckland on
December 15. The North Island semi-final will be held at Lower Hutt on January 26. The South Island qualifying rounds are being held simultaneously at Invercargill (zone one) and Kaiapoi (zone two) on February 2. The South Island semi-final will be at Dunedip on February 23. Twenty riders from each grade in each qualifying round will qualify for the
semi-finals. The top 20 points scorers in each of the semi-finals will go forward to their respective grade finals. Three races for each grade will be held at the zone qualifying meetings. In the semi-finals and final, four races will be held in each grade. Competitors will not be permitted to increase the capacity of their machines during the.championship.
