Fukoka run for Manners

(N.Z. Press Association) NAPIER. T. Manners, of Hawke’s Bay, has been invited to compete in the Fukoka marathon in Japan on December 8. He has been chosen to replace J. Foster, who cannot go. Manners, who will spend seven days in Japan, competed in the 1971 Fukoka marathon. He came fifth in 2hr 16min 23sec. He qualified for the Munich Olympics and in 1973 won the New Zealand marathon championship. Earlier this year he finished fourth at the Commonwealth Games in Christchurch with a time of 2hr 12min 58.6 sec.
