Dairy output hampered

Herd production on Lincoln College’s dairy farm was hampered by wet and cold soil conditions which restricted the spring recovery of pasture growth, particularly on the heavier land, it was reported to a meeting of the college council yesterday. r t Supplementary feeding of hay was kept up until September 23, at least a fortnight longer than usual. On the Ashley Dene farm, lucerne and greenfeed pastures had responded well to the warmer, sunnier weather of September, and by the end of the month there had been an adequate supply of feed for the ewes and lambs. The lambing percentage was about 130 per cent.
