R. HIGGENS SUSPENDED

(N.Z. Press Assn —Copyright) MELBOURNE. The leading Vicorian jockey, R. Higgins, was suspended yesterday for four city meetings for his riding of Prince Amura at Caulfield on Saturday. The suspension means that Higgins will miss the ride on the favourite, Lellani, winner of the Caulfield Cup, in the Melbourne Cup on November 5. He will also miss Saturday’s Cox Plate meeting at Moonee! Valley, the Victoria Derby at; Flemington, and the Victorian! Racing Club’s Oaks meeting. He is due to resume riding on the final day of the V.R.C. spring carnival. Higgins said he had not yet decided if he would appeal against the stewards’ decision. Higgins was charged with permitting Prince Amura to cause interference to Legoglio and Dandy Gem in the First Moonga Handicap.
