Comedian predicts All Black defeat
Dave Allen, the Irish comedian, is a Rugby fan who predicts that the All Blacks will be defeated in their tour of Ireland.
He said after his show at the Town Hall that he had been a free-lance Rugby reporter for Irish papers on local games — "about 12 small games that I sent in by telephone.” His love of Rugby is intense enough for him to stay up and watch the game by television satellite, at whatever hour of the night it comes through. "Ireland will kill you with
kindness before the game, but I think we will get you in the front,” he said. “It’s pretty widely recognised that New Zealand is about the greatest Rugby team in the world, even though you were defeated by the Lions — but that was for the first time. “I am looking forward to some great Rugby, because the Irish team is a good one. The match will draw people from all over Britain.”
