Aust. soccer barred from Asia

(N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) SYDNEY. The Australian Soccer Federation will have to consider whether to continue as a separate unit or re-apply to join the Oceania confederation. This view was expressed by the Australian federation president, Sir Arthur George, who has returned after attending the Asian confederation meeting in Teheran. Australia’s application to join the Asian group was defeated. The country has left the Oceania confederation, of which New Zealand is a leading member.

Sir Arthur has received indications that consideration will be given to providing Oceania with a seat on the world executive to give the area incentive to improve its rate of growth.
