Losses for St Albans

The considerable number of medium-paced bowlers that the St Albans Cricket Club appeared likely to have at its disposal in the coming season has been diminished by the transfer of two players and the possible absence of two others. L. C. Sparks, a former Central Districts representative who has been with St Albans for two seasons, will soon relinquish his position as a physical training instructor at Wigram and take up a similar appointment in Auckland. H. Shepherd is travelling overseas for a year. The promising M. McK. Burtt and R. J. Webb will be missing for the first three matches, at least. Burtt has university examinations and national hockey trials, and Webb would be absent for the whole season if he obtains a teaching position in Otago.
