Moto-cross entries
Two leading Christchurch riders, G. Sword and J. Penny, will compete as individuals in the transTasman international motocross meeting at Clear Water Estate, Queensland, on October 27. Sword, who recently won the South Island 250 c.c. miniature T.T. championship, will ride his new works replica RH2SO Suzuki. Penny has entered on the German 400 Maico which has served him well in recent seasons. A New Zealand team of five, including one Christchurch rider, L. Ross, has also entered for the meeting. Ross will ride a Spanish 250 Montesa in preference to the Honda he used to win the South Island gold star championship last season. Athletics.—R. Middleton (Britain) set three world track walkIng records at London today: For eight hours walking (85.617 km). 40 miles (shr 56min 29sec), and 50 miles (7:31:6). Coif.—Fifteen American golfers will contest the Chrysler tournament at the Royal Melbourne course from November 7 to 10. They include the holder L. Trevino, H. Green, R. Nichols, J. Colvert, G. Brewer and F. Fezler.
