T 2095 OPPORTUNITIES IN RECREATION AND SPORT The New Zealand Council for Recreation and Sport is a statutory body established to foster - and promote the fullest use of leisure by New Zealanders. The Council intends to make the following three appointments: RECREATION PROMOTION ORGANISER The major initial task of this officer will be to organise a national campaign to encourage more New Zealanders to make use of the wide range of recreational opportunities available. The national campaign will be run in support of local campaigns organised by community comImittees. Applicants should have a good knowledge of community recreational needs and be able to show that they have both experience and ability as an organiser. Adminstrative or leadership experience in recreation, either on a voluntary or professional basis, is essential. The appointee will be based in Wellington. Although the Council is prepared to consider initial appointment to Auckland for a period of six months, followed by transfer to Wellington, the Council would prefer the appointee to be based in Wellington from the commencement of duties. The appointee will be required to travel extensively within New Zealand. RECREATION LEADERSHIP TRAINING ADVISER The Adviser will need to have a detailed under--1 standing of recreation leadership training needs ; at all levels and a thorough knowledge of I courses at present available within New Zealand Ito meet these needs. The Council will look to the appointee as a source of specialist advice on the development of programmes for training recreation leaders. Applicants should have appropriate professional qualifications and should forward with their applications a short statement on their own assessment of needs in this field and how they should be met. OUTDOOR RECREATION ADVISER The appointee will be an adviser both to the Council and to the large number of community organisations with an interest in outdoor recreation. He will need to have an extensive knowledge of outdoor recreation needs and opportunities within New Zealand. A relevant professional qualification would be an advantage. The appointee will be required to travel extensively within New Zealand.
