Debating final

The Darfleld Young Farmers’ Club team has won the debating final in the Christchurch district of the Young Farmers’ Club movement. It beat the Dunsandel club’s A team, which, however, had the best speaker. The debate, held in the Young Farmers’ Club Memorial Hall at Lincoln College, was that on the subject “That euthanasia be legalised.” The Darfleld team which won a cup, comprised Messrs B. Duncan (leader) and B. Reed and Miss Ann McSweeney. It supported the negative of the motion. The Dunsandel team comprised Messrs A. Palmer, P. Barron, and K. O’Connell, the latter winning the cup for the best speaker. The judges were Messrs G. Marr, R. Tasker, and B. Miller.
