A. K. Robinson leading southern rider

The three wins gained by the Wingatui jockey, A. K. Robinson, on his home track on Saturday has boosted him to third equal place on the national table for the present season and he is now clearly the South Island’s leading jockey.

Robinson successfully rode jthe T.A.B. double on Dandy-

man and Unlucky In Love on Saturday and also rode Doctor Gate to victory in a maiden event to give him 10 winning rides for the season. This places him third equal on the national list with the top northern apprentice, P. D. Johnson and behind only N. G. Harris and D. A. Peake (14). The South Island’s leading apprentice, L. J. Molloy, who is temporarily attached to B. T. Jones’s stable at Washdyke, also figures prominently on the national list with seven wins and is currently second on the apprentices table behind Johnson.

Peake is now at the top of the national table with 14 wins following a most successful fortnight in which he has ridden nine winners including a treble at both the recent Whakatane and Paeroa meetings.
