Gasnier to be guest speaker
Reg Gasnier, who has been regularly rated as the greatest Rugby league back, will be guest speaker at two sporting functions in the South Island this month. He will attend the presentation evening of the Mari.stWestern Suburbs Rugby League Club at Bishopdale on Friday, October 18, and the West Coast “Sportsman of the Year” dinner in Greymouth the next evening. From 1959 until he retired after captaining and coaching the 1967 Kangaroos, Gasnier played in 39 tests.
Motor racing.—P. Depailler (France) in a March-BMW, increased his lead in the European Formula II championships by winning the eighth race in the series at Hockenheim.
