PLANNING OFNEWTOWNROLLESTON Submissions for the Planning Group Government intends to engage a full-time planning group on a consultancy basis to prepare a broad concept plan for a new town in the vicinity of RoUeston together with more immediate detailed plans for the initial stages of development. The selected group will be drawn from within New Zealand, but will be encouraged to use specialist advice from overseas where appropriate. It will be expected to make available a wide range of skills at a high level of professional competence including those relevant to landscape, transport, social and economic aspects of town development as well as land use and town design. Submissions are invited by the Minister of Works and Development from associations of individuals or firms interested in forming such a group. These should cover briefly the resources and skills which can be made available, preliminary ideas on the techniques and approach which might be adopted, comment on the planning brief and suggest an acceptable basis of payment. They are not intended to be contractual offers. Submissions should be addressed to the Commissioner of Works and received by 31 October 1974. Further information and copies of the planning brief may be obtained from the Town and Country Planning Division, Ministry of Works and Development, P.O. Box 12041, Wellington, Tel. 59-989 Ext. 439, or the District Commissioner of Works, P.O. Box 1479, Christchurch, Te 1.71-639 Ext.B3B.
